Sick and Fundraiser

Still throwing up. Ear stopped up. Hope that clears up because last time I wound up with ear infections! Julia also sick, but cheerful.

Bright side? Paul helped me tally up and there's $20,000 worth of goods and services up for grabs at our fundraising auction.

I didn't do it alone, of course,

But I kick ass. Weee!

Exercise:
  • What : wog: 1 lap jog/ .5 lap walk/ 2 lap jog/ 1 lap walk/ 1 lap jog/ .5 lap walk/ 2 lap jog
  • Time: 55:26 minutes
  • Distance: .6 miles warm up, 2.0 miles workout, .3 miles cool down
  • Lap Times: 3:24, 3:56, 3:30, 3:59, 3:56, 4:05, 3:53, 3:29
  • Minutes/mile: 14.85
WOW!!! Remember how my goal was to do 2 miles at a 15 minute/mile pace before my birthday? I was just telling Mike tonight how we had never hit that goal, and then we did tonight! I am so excited!

Tonight's wog was a real workout, but it felt great (to get it over with). We weren't sure if we would get it in tonight because they were calling for thunderstorms, but the rain held off and we went out. It was breezy, but high humidity, not the greatest running conditions.

After our last wog, I knew I could handle the distance. This time, I wanted to go a little faster. I think I beat my times for every lap. I feel like I am getting a little better at gaging speed and was able to hit the 14 minute mile mark for 3 of the laps.

August 29, 2005

Exercise:
  • What : neighborhood walk
  • Distance: 1.6 miles
  • Time: 26 minutes
  • Minutes/mile : 16.25
Burned out a quick walk tonight sans Mike and Izzy. I was listening to my iriver and felt like I was dancing around the neighborhood. Definitely a brisk walk, but it wasn't killing me. A 16 minute/mile pace is becoming "normal" for me now!

Ugh

Sick. Threw up. Cough. Snot. Watery eyes. Doc tomorrow morning. Ugh.

Exercise:
  • What : wog: 1 lap jog/ .5 lap walk/ 2 lap jog/ 1 lap walk/ 1 lap jog/ .5 lap walk/ 2 lap jog
  • Time: 60:54 minutes
  • Distance: .6 miles warm up, 2.0 miles workout, .4 miles cool down
  • Lap Times: 3:52, 4:25, 3:50, 4:02, 4:10, 4:31, 3:54, 3:34
  • Minutes/mile: 16.15
What a workout! As I mentioned in my last post, the training REALLY increased both total distance and jogging distance this week. For the exercise portion, we had to complete 2 miles with 1.5 miles jogging and .5 mile walking. I honestly didn't know if I could do it or not. Our last couple of runs, we had just run single laps and I found myself completely out of energy at the end of the lap, unable to imagine continuing. So this morning, we went out with the idea of running VERY SLOWLY. And I do mean VERY SLOWLY. There was an older gentleman walking the track. We stayed about 10 yards in front of him the first half of the workout, then he passed us during our 1 lap walk, then we passed him again during our last 2 lap run. It was a very slow pass. We were probably running a 15 min/mile pace and he was walking better than a 16 minute mile pace. I am very proud to have completed it no matter what the speed, though. The speed will come. And now that I know I can finish it, maybe I can go a little faster next time. This time I was just worried I would run out of energy before the end. You can see my last lap was my best time because after it became clear that I would indeed finish, I "ran it in".

Note for next time - take a cloth to wipe the sweat away. Sweat pouring into my eyes = unhappy wogger.

Yesterday was cleaning day and our house is sparkly. Today I am scheduled to do some trim work and work on the banister if it doesn't start raining. 9 days till house goes on the market! This week, my goal is to wog 3 times (this morning was number one), walk twice, and eat in 4 days out of the 7. Eating in is a big problem for us now. The house is clean and we have so much to do, the last thing we want to do is cook dinner. We are going to the store in a few minutes to buy supplies for quick and easy meals.

Sore Throat

  • Planned: 4 miles
  • Actual: (not yet)

Woke up with a bad sore throat and a cough. At least it seems to be developing fast -- maybe by late next week this cold will be over?

Four miles on the calendar just has me all ugh. I'm going to shoot for two walks around baby care and see how that goes. 2 + 2. Even just doing one walk for 2 miles would be good.

Julia's bright-eyed and bushytailed. She's already fallen once, ripped up one book, eaten some beans, and tried the plunger the toilet. She's only been up for 40 minutes!

August 26, 2005

11:15 PM

  • Planned: 30 min XT
  • Actual: 20 min easy intervals (program 4, 1 mile)

Here I am again. Back at 11 PM again. Tired again.

Sick too.

Today I stayed late at preschool and Paul came in after work. We both hung late to help move all the furniture out of the rooms because this weekend there's a person coming to put in new tile floor. Also working on buying new furniture so it is going to be an exciting year in those classrooms.

The trouble was all the dust and dirt we stirred up. My allergies went nuts and I have a scritchy throat now.

Julai was a bit of a grump too because she missed her afternoon nap. Got very fussy and irritable.

Didn't feel like doing 30 min of cross-training. So fell back on my standby -- program 4, easy intervals, turned on TV and zoned out til it was done.

That's all I can say about it -- it got done. Some days that's all there is.

Exercise:
  • What : wog 90s j/90s w/ 3min j/3min w
  • Time: 38 minutes
  • Distance: 2.2 miles total
  • Minutes/mile: 17.2 (including warm up/cool down)
We wanted to walk on the track again, but cheerleaders, soccer players, and football players were all out there and we didn't feel like avoiding them so we went around the long loop. We jogged based on time including up hills. At one point on an incline I had to stop jogging, but I made up the time during a walking interval after the hill was over. It was a lot harder on the sidewalk, both mentally and physically - my knees started twinging almost right away.

This weekend will be a lot of cleaning, then hopefully another wog on Sunday. Next week we jog 1.5 miles broken up into 4 intervals. Man, I hope I can do it. I guess I won't know until I try.

Tired

11:11 PM! Exhausted. No time to fiddle around with Blogger problems so I've switched the whole "Road to Orlando" thing to blogspot and I'll deal with why it suddenly hates to FTP to sirgalahad.org later on.

I still have to do something about dinner for tomorrow because if I don't cook it ahead NOW I'm going to be eating crap in sheer desparation when I get home from work. And MAYBE squeeze in a mini workout before I sack out. Ugh.

I have a playdate, meeting, work, then home at last. Not to mention crazed phone calls to the painter who won't just leave the paint he is supposed to leave.

Don't want to miss playdate though it pooped us out last Friday. It's my only chance to hang with my new mom-firends-in-the-making.

Saw doc this morning for Julia who looks like she is going to keep the tooth she knocked loose two weeks ago jumping off the bed. Went great -- she charmed everyone at the office and was agreeable and good natured. We're relieved the tooth is ok, but she's lost some weight from refusing to eat (tender teeth, I'm guessing) and she's boinking around like crazy. Can't get her to be still and cooperate!

Trying to go up the big kids slide at preschool, trying to climb up and over the fence, climbing out of her crib and straddling the crib rail yelling "Horse! Horse!", sneaking into the bathroom every chance she gets to use the toilet brush to scrub the toilet while yelling "Wash! Wash!" and all manner of toddler hijinks that have me on edge.

I used to be able to treadmill by sticking her in the crib with some toys but now that she can climb out... can't do that. Can't have her loose either or else she tries to get on there with me saying "Help! Help!" She's big on "helping" with whatever it is I'm doing. I don't mind having the sidekick, but it would be better if it were a sidekick I could reason with.

Wish my own doc appointment was as spiffy as Julia's. While I'm down ten lbs since Dr. H. last saw me, I have to have a slew of bloodwork done and we're talking about going back on Glucophage for the PCOS thing.

Well, nothing doing. I'm nursing her til she's 2 at least now, so I'm NOT ready to go back on the Glucophage. Thpppt. He's not unsupportive of this decision, but not supper supportive either. More like... "Well, let's see what your labs are like and see...." So I'm anxious and not at all eager for fasting labs on Monday.

While in the lobby waiting for my appointment I was reading a diabetic trade journal and it was going on about hormones in diet and the advice given was more fiber, more plant food, more whole grain, more organic, yadda yadda.

I never understand why they just don't quit mincing words and just SAY "Go vegan! It will be much better for your insulin resistance!"

Give a patient the bottom line and quit fannying about. If the patient doesn't feel like doing it, then it's the patient's problem. But don't hem and haw around with it. You aren't giving patients the big picture then and that's just plain wrong.

Gah.

Exercise:
  • What : easy walk
  • Distance: 1.6 miles
We had a nice and easy walk tonight. It felt strange to go out without running. I was happy to have a night off from training, but wanted to get out of the house for a while and enjoy the beautiful weather we are having. I spent most of the day working on the house and needed a break from it. Things are coming along, it goes on the market in 12 days...

Exercise (Monday 8/22):
  • What : wog 90s j/90s w/ 3min j/3min w
  • Time: 49:10 minutes
  • Distance: .6 miles warm up, 1.25 miles workout, .3 miles cool down
  • Lap Times: 3:36, 3:43, 3:59, 3:37, 4:28
  • Minutes/mile: 15.5
Exercise (Wednesday 8/24):
  • What : wog 1/2lap j/1/2lap w/ 1lap j/1lap w
  • Time: 51:01 minutes
  • Distance: .6 miles warm up, 1.25 miles workout, .3 miles cool down
  • Lap Times: 3:43, 3:05, 4:33, 4:05, 3:19
  • Minutes/mile: 15
I rocked my wog last night. We did the wog for distance instead of time so we jogged half a lap, walked half a lap, jogged a full lap, walked a full lap, then repeated. I counted my last lap as a cool down walk because I was dead. But the 5 "exercise" laps look good! I averaged 15 min/mile (maybe my fastest average speed ever?) AND the two laps I ran, I finished with a 12.3 pace and a 13.25 pace! Definitely the fastest laps ever.

I liked doing the distance instead of time. It was nice to know where the stopping point was and be able to keep my eye fixed on it during the run.

August 24, 2005

Put kid down to bed around 8 PM and I zonked out til 1 AM! Argh! No walk!

I cleaned out the fridge really fast and got this week's produce order arranged and settled in my new Tupperware "FridgeSmart" containers. Hopefully produce really will stay fresher in them.

Doc. tomorrow.

August 23, 2005

Exercise (from last night):
  • What : wog: 90 s jog/90 s walk/ 3 min jog/ 3 min walk
  • Time: 49:10 minutes
  • Distance: .5 miles warm up, 1.25 miles workout, .3 miles cool down
  • Lap Times: 3:35, 3:43, 3:59, 3:37, 4:28
  • Minutes/mile: 15.5
I have been wogging 3 times a week, sometimes I forget to post. Last night was my first 3 minute jog, yikes was it hard. Mike went with me and we kept a conversation up during to distract me. I could almost make it around the whole lap when jogging, but as soon as the jogging time was up I walked Real Slow.

We are definitely moving, but I am committed to training no matter what. Keep on me if I seem like I am slacking. :)

August 22, 2005

  • What: treadmill walk
  • Distance: 1 mile
  • Time: 20 min.

Porgram 4 on my treadmill. Easy intervals ranging from 2.5 mph to 3.5 mph for twenty minutes. Now I'm going to get some laundry done and sack out for the night.

Wore a new Lunaire bra. Don't like it as much as the Champion one but it's ok. Underwire -- wouldn't want to try nursing in it.

August 21, 2005

Still no decent shoes or shorts in sight.

But I picked up 6 dresses, 2 skirts, and 3 tops today in cheerful colors/prints so that much is taken care of. If I can jsut manage shorts and shoes, my post partum wardrobe will be in decent shape at long last!

August 19, 2005

Woke up this morning and checked the scale. I have mixed feelings of "Yay!" and "Argh!"

-57.5 lbs done. Another 2.5 to go to make it to -60. There's the "yay!" I had a slight rise and now I'm back down and very close to an even number lost.

And then another -27.5 past that to make it to what my dietitian thought is a reasonable weight for me with PCOS/hypothyroid. There's the "argh!" That there's still a ways to go and with every pound lost, it gets harder to get it down further.

I don't want to think about trying to "better" than that goal til I actually get there and I'm trying to feel good that I'm 2/3 of the way there.

But my thoughts run more to the "Grrr... bloody hell... I've done 30 ish pounds not once, but TWICE, and I have to do ANOTHER 30 ish pounds AGAIN? When can I bloody well maintain?!"

August 18, 2005

Exercise:
  • What : wog: 90second jog/120 second walk
  • Time: 48:15 minutes
  • Distance: .5 miles warm up, 1.25 miles workout, .5 miles cool down
  • Lap Times: 3:40, 3:44, 3:41, 3:44, 3:40
  • Minutes/mile: 14.8
WOW! My average minutes per mile was super quick tonight, 14.8! I rock! Mike and Iz went with me this time and I definitely think I ran it faster with him along. Even though he could have run faster and longer, he pushed the stroller and ran beside me. What a honey. :)

I am off to AL tomorrow to check out my possible new place of employment and look at houses! I am very excited and looking forward to seeing old friends that I haven't seen in many years. Of course meals out at my old favorite haunts are already planned. I hope I see a house I love and like the new place of employment. If I do, we will start packign when I return.

4 more weeks till we do the sistah's 5k. I am trying to talk them into getting pedicures for the occassion, along with havign a slumber party and staying up late watching girly movies. It will be like old times, with a lot of huffing and puffing at the end.

I will write more on Sunday.

August 17, 2005

Exercise:
  • What : neighborhood walk
  • Time: 35 minutes
  • Distance: 1.6 miles
  • Minutes/mile: 22
A easy neighborhood walk with Mike and Iz tonight. Another walk on the schedule for tomorrow.

August 16, 2005

Exercise:
  • What : wog: 90second jog/120 second walk
  • Time: 35:22 minutes
  • Distance: .3 miles warm up, 1.25 miles workout, .3 miles cool down
  • Lap Times: 3:47, 3:57, 3:57, 3:57, 3:57
  • Minutes/mile: 15.5
I wogged in the rain! I got completely soaked and didn't take time to properly warm up so I am feeling it, but I did it!

No yoga or walking last night. I worked in the backyard for an hour when I got home from work and felt super sick afterwards. Mike made a quick dinner of pasta and I felt better afterward, but not well enough to exert myself again. Tonight is wog night ! :) Luckily it was much cooler yesterday, hopefully it will be cool tonight too.

Eating is going ok. We had unplanned pizza a couple of nights ago, but I didn't go over points by too much. I have already planned on eating at 2 of my favorite restauarnts on my trip this weekend, though.

August 15, 2005

Quickie updates...

Today was my last day working mornings at preschool so I don't have to get up that early to open it up and receive children any more. But late tonight I got called in to come in early tomorrow at 2 PM instead of 4 PM because another staff person had some kind of problem arise. And I have a meeting tomorrow night too for preschool's arts and crafts fair thing.

Then another the night after for fundraiser auction junk.

Yargh.

Bright side? I brought in another $1000 worth of stuff for my fundraiser auction. Go me! Booyah! :)

So change in plans for those keeping track at home. I'm NOT doing Hal Higdon Novice twice. I'm doing Hal Higdon Walking and THEN I'm doing novice. I dislike it, but I have no time for long stuff nor strength training this go around. And when peopel ask me to do other things, I say NO, not til after Disney.

Probably won't have time to update daily walks til the auction is over in late September... so I'll shoot for weekly.

Here's this week's plan:
  • Su: rest
  • M: 30 min easy
  • T: 20 min stroll
  • W: 30 min easy
  • R: rest
  • F: 30 min stroll
  • S: 3 miles

August 14, 2005

Exercise:
  • What : wog: 90second jog/120 second walk
  • Time: 50:29 minutes
  • Distance: .5 miles warm up, 1.25 miles workout, .5 miles cool down
  • Lap Times: 3:49, 3:49, 3:48, 3:51, 3:47
  • Minutes/mile: 15.3
Wow, look at my min/mile! I think that is my fastest ever.

Today was SO HARD! I woke up at 6:15, had my breakfast, read my email, and just couldn't seem to get myself out the door. By the time I went out, it was 7:15 and I didn't properly stretch before going. It was 80 degrees, 90 % humidity, no breeze, sun already beating down. I increased my jogging times today and, believe me, I felt it. But I was glad I was able to do it. I wasn't sure I would be able to run for 90 seconds straight, I was so happy to stop at 60 seconds last week. It didn't feel like such an impossibility once I was out there (but I was very happy to stop after 90 seconds, there was no "running it in".) The bad news is my right thigh is really sore. I stretched after I got back and will continue stretching throughout the day. I guess that teaches me that I must stretch before going out to wog.

I am off to hop in the shower and say good morning to Mike and Iz. Hope you guys have a great day!

August 13, 2005

I feel great! All the stretching must be paying off because I am not at all sore from this morning's wog. I have got to get an early start on wogging this week since I am out of town next weekend. My plan is:

Sunday - wog in early AM
Monday - yoga or walk
Tuesday - wog
Wednesday - yoga or walk
Thursday - wog
Friday - leave for 2 days

I joined the yahoo group Team Penguin Disney. They have been discussing places to stay and to be honest I hadn't even thought about it. I guess I was thinking I would drive in from my in-laws. There was some discussion whether it was better to get a cheaper hotel serviced by buses or if one serviced by the monorail would be preferable. Cat - what are you doing?

Exercise:
  • What : wog: 60 second jog/90 second walk
  • Time: 48:40 minutes
  • Distance: .5 miles warm up, 1.25 miles workout, .5 miles cool down
  • Lap Times: 3:54, 3:54, 4:03, 4:01, 4:12
  • Minutes/mile: 16.1
Man, even at 7 am it was hot out there! And there were about 30 high school girls on the track (the field hockey team?) . When I approached the track, I could see them running all together like a flock of gazelles. When I got there they were standing in a circle, taking up the whole track, stretching. As a unit, they all moved to the side to let me pass. It was quite funny. While I was working out, they were training, running in circles, or in partners, so I had to change lanes to avoid them a lot.

Mentally, I wasn't "there" for this workout, but I got out there and got it done. Even though the numbers look the same as my other two wogs, I felt like I was struggling a lot, like I couldn't figure out how to make my arms swing or knees lift.

Mike and I are 99% sure we'll be moving in the next few months. The planning required to move us, a baby and two pets, sell this house, buy a new one, and find new daycare for Iz, all while I am prepping for my new job and wrapping things up at my old one, is keeping me up at nights.

The weather looks equally bad today and tomorrow as yesterday. Next weeks wogs are 90 seconds jogging/2 minutes walking. I hope the weather breaks or I will have to break down and do them on the treadmill.

Cat- glad things are getting more managable! I am looking forward to hearing all about your upcoming exercise :).

Formal exercise may be around the corner.

Every day that I drive to preschool I check out the construction progress on the gym down the street. It's a branch of my gym, so I eagerly await the opening. Because then I can leave the kid at preschool and not be stressing about her being in gym daycare. I really don't like leaving her there.

Weight? I'm maintaining -- which is good given all the job stress lately. Opening preschool, going home to nap Julia, then closing preschool -- very weird hours and weird eating as a result. Living on cereal and toast sometimes because I was too damn tired to cook.

I was going to do it all month to help out, but happily it didn't take that long to find someone to do it and it happens to be an aquaintance of mine from playgroup that I wanted to try to get to know better.

Julia recovering well from her fall earier this week. She took a tumble and knocked a tooth loose. Lots of crying and scary bleeding but the doc said she is fine and now we wait to see if the tooth is going to reattach or fall out or what. The very next day she was at her monkey antics and was trying to climb the big kids' slide in the playground! I flipped out and got her off of there.

Last night we went to an open mic for a little while en famille -- it was very relaxing. It made me laugh because with all the candles on the tables and stuff it reminded me of our coffee house days. Paul and I and our friends used to go quite a lot when we were younger. Only then the problem was volume -- somehow college kids never seem to get their volume on open mic nights decent. Always way loud. Our problem last night was trying to convince Julia that while pretty, candles on tables are hot.

Until she got tired, she was busy flirting with all the other people and dancing.

Exercise:
  • What : yoga and stretching
  • Time: ~45 minutes
Last night was too hot to exercise outside, so I ended up doing 15 minutes of stretching and 30 minutes of yoga. Sometimes I just need to put on the outfit. I put on my yoga unitard last night and finally got around to doing it. As I mentioned before, I really like the yoga dvd, but can't I have everything? The dvd only has one program. It is broken down into a 10 minute warm up, 13 minute workout and 7 minute cool down (and for several minutes of the cool down you are just laying on the floor breathing). Duing all of the sessions there are little pauses between each posture where they say the posture name and what the posture is meant to do. Then they show the posture. There is only one "positional flow" and it lasts maybe 3 minutes. I like this dvd, it is a great way to learn a few postures. But it isn't that many postures. Eventually I just want to do the flow without all the breaks and long descriptions. Can't they put everything on 1 dvd? A "posture learning" workout and a flow workout? Or god forbid multiple posture learning/flow workouts? I like this dvd so far because I am still learning, but I feel like I will grown out of it quickly. Where is the dvd that is a yoga studio in a box?

As soon as it gets light today, I am going out for my third wog of the week.

August 12, 2005

Yay - blog it fixed! Thanks Cat and Paul.

I wogged on Wednesday, but didn't post hte stats and yesterday I didn't do anything. Tomorrow, another wog is scheduled, but there is a head advisory in our area. If it is too hot, then I will be walking/yoga, if not then wog.

August 09, 2005

Exercise:
  • What : yoga and stretching
  • Time: ~40 minutes
Today was great, yoga and stretching was just what I needed. I was sore all morning and my knees felt a little "crunchy" so I spent about 15 minutes stretching, then did the 25 minute yoga routine from my new yoga dvd. It is called Just My Size Yoga and I really liked it, it was my first time doing yoga. It is taught by a larger lady, a former plus sized model. It only has one workout on it, though, so I can imagine it might get boring after I get used to the poses. But it seems good to learn some of the poses and to practice breathing with movement. My legs felt better afterwards. Tomorrow is another wog scheduled, but this time I need to stretch before and right after and hopefully do it a little later so it won't be as hot.

We have been considering moving and I think we have almost come to the conclusion that we are going to move. It is going to be intense, I will be moving sometime in the late fall, maybe even right before Christmas. I just need to stay focused on getting healthy and exercising and not get distracted by all the stuff there is to do. Hopefully we will pay someone to move up, to clean our house and prep it for selling, so there will be precious little for us to do (fingers crossed). Whatever happens, I must keep training!

August 08, 2005

Exercise:
  • What : wog! 60 second jog/90 second walk
  • Time: 39:16 minutes
  • Distance: 6 laps plus warm up and cool down
  • Lap Times: 4:28, 3:31, 3:57, 3:46, 3:54, 4:26
  • Minutes/mile: 16
WOOHOO! I wogged today! I couldn't believe myself. Mike had to work late and I had a little time at home before I picked up Iz so I ran out and got it done. I walked over, then walked a lap to make sure I was properly warmed up. Then I wogged 5 laps. Do you see that I finished a lap in 3:31?? Fastest time ever! (for me at least). I was tuckered by the end and had to walk REAL SLOW the last lap between jogging.

I wore my disney tee! For your amusement, I put a picture here.

First day of the new school year at preschool and I had to watch a a small baby, two large babies, and then 5 toddlers before help arrived. The two toddlers with separation anxiety were the hardest of the bunch to deal with.

On the flip side -- my hosue is cleaner, I had my bags at the door, lunches packed, everything organized. AND the new branch of my gym is getting clsoer to being done and it's 5 min from preschool.

So... things are looking up for me and my schedule.

August 07, 2005

Exercise:
  • What : neighborhood walk

  • Distance: 2.2 miles
  • Lap Times: N/A
  • Minutes/mile: 17.7
Ladies, I did it! I exercised! I stayed within points for the day! I rock!

I completely underestimated the effect that listening to music while walking. I discovered that Vertigo by U2 was a great song for walking fast. And the song "Stuck in a Moment you can't get out of" really spoke to me. Go read the lyrics and see why. It is going to be my song for a while.

I went to the grocery store today and stocked up on loads of fresh fruit, snacks, and other essentials (spent $180!). It was a good trip. This week we are going to have omelets, manwich (made with tofu crumbles), salad with nuts and dates, bbq tofu with sweet potatoes and asparagus, and pasta. Sounds yummy, no?

The hot weather has broken a bit and I will walk today (it has been my little mantra all morning.) I am also going to try out my new yoga dvd as soon as I get off the computer.

This morning I spent a lot of time while laying in bed re-dedicating myself to the idea of getting healthy. To say the least it has been hard to get back into after a month off. And it was becoming a weight thing in my mind, I had lost focus on the real goal of having a healthy and happy second pregnancy. I was thinking about getting pregnant again this morning and realizing that though I am a lot healthier now than I was in January, I am still no where near where I would like to be when I get pregnant again. I just want to focus on that.

In happy news, I have been baggin up clothes that are too big, which seems to be everything in my closet. I am going to have to do some serious shopping this fall.

My prayers last time didn't work, but I try to post anyway.

Tonight Mike and I had a date. It was sweet, we hired a sitter (the woman who works at Iz's daycare), then went to a movie and dinner. I ate poorly. I felt like it was my last meal. I know it is the wrong mindset, but there it is, I did it.

I came home and drank two large glasses of water and wrote out a grocery list for next week. I am going to stock popcorn, apples, and yogurt as snacks.

I got my disney tee!

*saying a little prayer to blogger to please work this time, unlike the last 3 posts that never posted*

Yay, it's Friday! Tonight we are eating in (don't know what yet, probably pasta) and tomorrow Mike and I have arranged a date! Dinner and a movie in a newer area of town that we haven't been to before. I am very excited, we haven't been alone since our vacation and I am missing it badly. It is still hard to swallow the $10/hour babysitting bill, but it must be done. Before the babysitter comes, though, I feel the need to do at least cursory house cleaning, so that should keep me occupied tonight and tomorrow morning. Plus I haven't put away any clothes from our trips, I am still living out of a suitcase and laundry basket.

This week, my goals are:
1) complete the 3 couch-potato-to-5k workout sessions (60 seconds jog/90 second walk, repeat for 20 minutes)
2) walk 2 days, any speed or distance
3) stretch/yoga/strength 2 days
4) EAT IN POINTS

The last will probably be the hardest. I have been recorning points this week, but going way over. TOM will be over by then, so hopefully that will help.

My disney t is on its way, I hope it is here for my first running workout!

I just got back from the cardiologist, all is well! I am very happy. My whole life I have tiptoed around heart problems, but all the tests today show everything is working very well, there is no reason to think I should have any ill effects from my heart surgery in years to come. And better yet, I don't have to go see a cadiologist until I am 50! (Even though 50 doesn't seem so far away as it once did.)

Running - here I come!

August 03, 2005

Hey guys. I wrote an entry last night and blogger ate it, very hungry that. I have been writing down points for the last couple of days. I haven't been staying within points, but at least I am writing them down. We cooked dinner last night and I am going to cook again tonight. Look at me, back on plan, somewhat.

In happy iriver news, I have been copying my cds onto the pc, then seperating the songs into warmup, cooldown and workout. I have 5-10 songs in each folder now, I hope to get some good playlists going soon. I have ordered my run disney t-shirt and a new yoga dvd.

Tests at the cadiologist are tomorrow. After I pass them (fingers crossed) I should get the ok to start jogging next week. There are 6 weeks till the 5K with my sisters, must get to work now.

Yay, it's August! Woohoo! I weighed in this morning and weighed 3.5 lbs more than the beginning of July, a total of 36.5 lbs lost, not too much of a gain considering the craziness of the month. So back on track today.

Now two of my sisters are going to do the 5k with me in September! I love a family affair.
